Stock & Seasonality

Why things run out here in a way they do not in a supermarket, and how to know when they are back.

When will an out-of-stock product be back?

It depends on the harvest or the herd, not on a warehouse. We do not buy in grain to mill or animals to slaughter, so when something runs out we wait for the next harvest or the next group of animals to be ready.

  • Grains, vegetables and nuts are harvested once a year. Wine is released by vintage.
  • Meat is slaughtered according to expected demand and which animals are ready. We do not run a feedlot and we do not buy in animals.
  • We usually load new stock onto the site before announcing a delivery run.

How do I find out when something returns?

Sign up for a back-in-stock notification on the product page and we will email you the moment it is available. We use that address for nothing else, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Why we work this way

Lowerland produces slow food. Waiting for the next harvest is the cost of not buying in someone else’s grain and calling it ours.
